12 DAYS SAFARI

Day 1– Amboseli National Park

We depart Nairobi in the morning and drive south through Masai country to the plains below Mt. Kilimanjaro where Amboseli is situated. After a stopover lunch at the lodge we proceed into the scenic Amboseli National Park for a game drive returning to the lodge in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Serena Lodge/ Camp.

Here buffaloes, lions, gazelles, cheetahs, wildebeest, hyenas, jackals, warthogs, Masai Giraffes, zebra, baboon, hippos and waterbuck can be seen against the backdrop of the magnificent snow-capped mountain.

Day 2 – Amboseli National Park

After a leisurely breakfast, we explore the park through morning and afternoon game drives. We have sufficient time for relaxation at the lodge, complete with the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro in the background.

Day 3 – Aberdare Ranges

We leave Amboseli, viewing game as we drive via Nairobi to the Aberdares to enjoy the experience of staying in a Tree Hotel or lodge overlooking floodlit waterholes where wildlife and birds regularly visit. Dinner and a well deserved sleep thereafter.

Over 40 species of wildlife inhabit the Aberdare mountain ranges, hiding in the heavily forested slopes and in the upper moor lands. The Aberdares is noted as a rhino sanctuary but keep an eye out for the elusive rare bongo, which is best, spotted in the upper bamboo zone and hypericum scrub.

Day 4 – Samburu National Reserve

After breakfast we proceed further north across the Equator to the edge of the Northern Frontier. Arrival will be in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive returning in time for a sun downer and dinner at Samburu Serena lodge/Camp. .

Day 5 – Samburu National Reserve

The whole day will be spent relaxing and leisurely exploring the Samburu National Reserve through morning and afternoon game drives. You may opt to do some of the activities offered at the lodges for a small extra cost.

The region is home to the uncommon Grevy’s zebra with huge fury ears, gerenuk antelope standing on hind legs to feed, Somali ostriches with distinct blue legs and the shy Oryx. Elephant and crocodile are guaranteed sightings, excellent bird watching with numerous varieties of weaverbirds and the martial eagle. Leopard sighting is also a special feature here.

Day 6- Mount Kenya

We enjoy a final early morning game drive in the Samburu reserve then depart for the Mt. Kenya region. Arrival at the lodge in time for you to enjoy the facilities of the lodge, explore the Mount Kenya National Park or take an optional tour to the nearby Sweetwaters Reserve which is home to Chimpanzees. Dinner and overnight at the Mountain Lodge.

Mount Kenya was shaped by volcanic action linked with the creation of the Rift Valley and is thought to be older than Mount Kilimanjaro; geologists believe it previously stretched at least 1500m above its present height of 5199m (17,057ft).

Day 7 – Lake Baringo via Lake Bogoria

Morning drive via the Nyahururu Falls down to the shallow soda Lake Bogoria and later to the beautiful lake Baringo where you may enjoy the pleasure of an evening bird walk. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

In the spectacular Lake Bogoria; hot springs and geysers are the main attractions. The lake has been called ‘the new home of the flamingo’ with a nomad population of up to two million birds.

Lake Baringo is the most Northerly of Kenya’s small Rift Valley lakes; creased with papyrus and well developed acacia forest. Hippos, crocodiles and monitor lizards are effortlessly seen from the shore, as is a magnificent display of water birds. This is Kenya's bird watching centre with over 1200 different species native to the country and more than 450 sighted here. A bird watcher's haven but beware, this is malaria land so it is best to come prepared with plenty of mosquito repellent.

Day 8 – Nakuru National Park

We enjoy a morning boat ride in search of hippo, crocodile, and fish eagle. After a sumptuous lunch, we then proceed to Lake Nakuru and the Nakuru National Park for an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at L. Nakuru Lodge / Camp

The park covers 180 sq km and is home to warthogs, waterbuck, buffaloes, reedbucks, and the occasional leopard. White and black rhinos were introduced to the park some years ago and you will find white rhino at the southern end. The park has also retained its reputation as an ornithologists’ delight with more than 400 species of bird found here.

Day 9 – Masai Mara National Reserve

After an early breakfast, we depart for Masai Mara National Reserve via the Great Rift Valley arriving in time for lunch at the lodge. We then proceed on an afternoon game drive returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight at the Mara Serena lodge/ Camp.

10 & 11 – Masai Mara National Reserve

The next two days shall be spent viewing game, in the early morning hours and in the evenings as this is when we have the best chances of seeing wildlife.

You may also opt to do some of the activities offered by the lodge. On clear days, the Masai Mara offers fantastic orange tinted sunsets and you will definitely want to capture this moment while sipping on a sun downer back at the lodge/ Camp.


Day 12 - Nairobi


After a final early morning game drive we depart for Nairobi arriving in the afternoon hours.

AMBOSELI / NAKURU / MAASAI MARA – 6 DAYS
   
 

Day 1 - Amboseli

We depart Nairobi in the morning and drive south through Masai country to the plains below Mt. Kilimanjaro where Amboseli is situated. After a stopover lunch at the lodge we proceed into the scenic Amboseli National Park for a game drive returning to the lodge in the evening for a sun downer.

With the majestic backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro, spectacular displays of wildlife - lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, cheetah, buffalo and various plains' game, postcard perfect pictures are almost always guaranteed.

Day 2 - Amboseli

After a dawn game drive, we return to the lodge for breakfast. The rest of the morning is spent at leisure or by the swimming pool. Lunch and final game drive in the late afternoon beneath the snow capped peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

The waters from Mt. Kilimanjaro drain under lava flows and surface in Amboseli, creating a green belt of swampland amidst dusty plains. At 329 sq km Amboseli is a small park and lacks the profusion of animal species found in the Mara, but the landscape provides limited cover so we have better chances of seeing some of the larger predators. Buffaloes, lions, gazelles, cheetahs, wildebeest, hyenas, jackals, warthogs, Masai Giraffes, zebra, baboon, and waterbuck are all present in the park.

Day 3 – Amboseli / Rift Valley / Lake Nakuru

After an early breakfast, we drive down the Escarpment to the floor of the Great Rift Valley, to Lake Nakuru National Park with lunch en route for an afternoon game drive.

The park covers 180 sq km and is home to warthogs, waterbuck, buffaloes, reedbucks, and the occasional leopard. White and black rhinos were introduced to the park some years ago and the park has also retained its reputation as an ornithologists’ delight with more than 400 species of bird found here. We spend the night at the lodge.

Day 4 – Masai Mara

We depart for the Masai Mara Game Reserve after an early breakfast. Lunch at the lodge and an afternoon game viewing in the reserve that borders the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. We return from our game drive in time for a refreshing and relaxing sun downer with dinner at the lodge.
Wherever you go in the Mara you will see a frequent amount of wildlife such as Masai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras and hippos also exist in great numbers. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot but are still reasonably common.

Day 5 – Masai Mara

The following day will be spent here, enjoying the luxuries of the lodge, game viewing and absorbing the amazing sceneries. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Balloon trips are an entirely outstanding way of seeing the savannah plains and the wildlife after which you come back down for a beautiful breakfast and these trips safari can be arranged at our office upon booking.

Day 6 - Nairobi

We drive back to Nairobi after breakfast arriving by afternoon with lunch en route

3 DAYS NAIROBI AND MAASAI MARA
   
 

This is a short safari featuring Maasai Mara National Reserve. The safari departs Nairobi in the morning and involves a drive down to the floor of the Rift Valley, making a stop at view point to see the escarpment and the awesome sight of the valley and the features there in. To arrive Maasai Mara in time for lunch, followed by a late afternoon game drive that introduces you to Kenya's most popular game sanctuary.

Day 1. Nairobi/Maasai Mara

Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive along the floor of the Rift Valley to Maasai Mara arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive.
Dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 2. Maasai Mara

Full day game drives in Maasai Mara, with picnic lunches in the park. Maasai Mara is Kenya's most popular game sanctuary where you will have the best opportunity of spotting the Big Five - lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant.
Optional visit to a local Maasai village.

Day 3.Maasai Mara/Nairobi

Another early morning game drive in Mara, then depart after breakfast and drive back to Nairobi arriving approx. 13:00hrs. Drop at your hotel or transfer to the airport for onward flight home.

Day 1.Nairobi/Maasai Mara

Day 2.Maasai Mara

Full day in Maasai Mara, Kenya's most popular game sanctuary where you will have the best opportunity of spotting the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant). Morning and afternoon game drives with an optional visit to a local Maasai village.
All meals and overnight at lodge.

Day 3.Maasai Mara/Lake Nakuru

Depart Maasai Mara after breakfast for Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving Lake Nakuru Lodge in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive. Besides the flamingos that the lake is famous for, there are approx 400 other species of birds visiting the lake. Also, many species of game can be found in the park including the introduced Rothschild's giraffe, black and white rhino, waterbuck, reedbuck, lion, buffalo, leopard, baboon and many species of plains game. Dinner and overnight at the Sarova Lion Hill.

Day 4.Lake Nakuru/Nairobi

Another morning game drive after breakfast, then depart for Nairobi arriving approx. 1300 hrs. Drop at your hotel or transfer to the airport for onward flight home.

4 DAYS TSAVO WEST - AMBOSELI
   
 

Day 1:
After breakfast, depart for Tsavo West National Park which lies roughly halfway between Nairobi and the Coast.

The chief marvel here is the Mzima Springs, replenished with two hundred and twenty million litres of crystal clear water everyday, from the underground streams stemming from the lava massif known as Chyulu Hills. Mzima Springs is a favorite haunt of hippos and crocodiles. There are well-marked nature trails, an observation platform and an underwater glass tank, which provides a special vantage point to view this remarkable oasis. An early evening game drive to see large herds of Elephants, Buffalo, Common Waterbuck, Eland, Gerenuk, Maasai Giraffe, Black Rhino and Antelopes. Bird life is also in abundance at this park of great diversity in habitat and terrain.
Dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 2:
After breakfast, head for the bushy country of Amboseli National Park. Amboseli National Park is a landscape dominated everywhere by the glistening, majestic snowcap of the mighty Mt Kilimanjaro - a fitting backdrop to the wild region. It is also the region where pastoral Masai and their cattle have lived in harmony with wild creatures for many a century. After lunch, experience an afternoon game drive at the foot of Africa's highest mountain.
Dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 3:
Early morning game drive that is rewarded by magnificent views of the mighty Mt Kilimanjaro with its snowcapped summit appearing pink in the rising sun. Amboseli is known for its abundance of elephants as well as hippopotamus, giraffe, lion and black rhino. The snows of Kilimanjaro, white and crystalline, form a majestic backdrop to one of Kenya's most spectacular displays of wildlife, creating Kenya's most sought after photographer's paradise. After lunch, extensive games drive.
Dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 4:
After breakfast, depart for Nairobi.

7 DAYS KENYA CLASSIC
   
 

Day 1: Nairobi

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be transferred to the Hilton Hotel in Nairobi where you will spend the night on a bed & breakfast basis. Depending on your flight arrival time, the remainder of the day is free for you to Hotel to overnight

Day 2: Masai Mara National Reserve (Approx 6hr drive)

Leaving Nairobi after breakfast, you'll travel towards Kenya's fertile highlands and head down the Rift Escarpment on a road built by Italian prisoners of war during World War II. Look out for the charming chapel they built at the foot of the escarpment. You'll pass the impressive Longonot Earth Satellite Station as you head across the Valley to Narok, and then travel across acres of wheat and barley, before you reach the Masai Mara in time for lunch. Following lunch and a siesta, there is an afternoon game drive returning to the lodge as the sun sets.

Day 3: Masai Mara National Reserve

You will be woken up early for a morning game drive in the Masai Mara, the day is at your leisure until the afternoon game drive. At certain times of the year the reserve is the scene of one of the greatest wildlife spectacles, the Wildebeest Migration - which you could be witness to if you time your safari accordingly.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru National Park (Approx 5-6hr drive)

Leaving the Masai Mara after breakfast, you'll travel across the ‘breadbasket’ of Kenya, where acres of wheat & barley cover the landscape as you head North to Narok, the district headquarters of this part of Masailand. Now travel across the vast plains on the floor of the Rift Valley, keeping an eye out for herds of giraffe and gazelle as you head up the Mau Escarpment, before arriving at your destination, Lake Nakuru. The waters here are often colored shimmering flamingo pink, from thousands of the beautiful birds lining its shores. Once in the park, there will be a game drive.

Day 7: Day of Departure (Approx 5hr drive)

Following an early morning game drive and breakfast you’ll hopefully catch your last clear early morning view of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro as you leave Amboseli behind; heading West to the colorful border town of Namanga. Here you may find a good bargain on the Masai's unique beadwork. Then turn North along a good tarmac road across the beautiful and seemingly never ending Athi Plains, arriving in Kenya's bustling capital city of Nairobi by midday.

DAY 4: Nakuru – Amboseli via Nairobi

DAY 5: Amboseli.

0630hrs: Proceed for an early pre-breakfast game drive. Back for breakfast. DAY 6: Amboseli – Tsavo West

After breakfast leave for Samburu with lunch taken in Nanyuki, arrive in the afternoon. Afternoon games drive at Samburu Game Reserve. Dinner and overnight at a lodge/camp.

DAY 6: Samburu
Morning and afternoon game drives in Samburu Game Reserve with lunch break between 1.00pm and 4.00pm and see the wildlife in this park the gerenuk and the reticulated giraffe. Dinner and overnight at a lodge/camp.

DAY 7: Samburu – Mt.Kenya
After breakfast leave Samburu and drive to Nanyuki a town at the foot of Mt.Kenya arriving in time for lunch. After lunch visit the Mau Mau Caves (where freedom fighters could hide from the British Troops during the struggle for independence). Dinner and over night at a budget hotel/ lodge.

DAY 8: Mt.Kenya – Amboseli via Nairobi
Depart Nanyuki after breakfast for Amboseli National Park via Nairobi for lunch. Proceed to Amboseli arriving in the afternoon with an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at a lodge/camp.

DAY 9: Amboseli.
0630hrs: Proceed for an early pre-breakfast game drive. Back for breakfast. After breakfast proceed to a further game drive now having a chance of seeing rhino, lion, giraffe, elephant and many other animals with Mt.Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak providing a beautiful back drop. TREE HOTEL
 

Day 1 - Tree Hotel We depart Nairobi early and drive to Aberdare National Park to a Tree Hotel or lodge which overlooks floodlit waterholes frequented by wildlife. As dusk ensues, we enjoy a relaxing sun downer whilst viewing game as they gradually approach the waterhole – a truly magical experience. A hearty dinner and pleasant sleep follows thereafter. Over 40 species of wildlife inhabit the Aberdare mountain ranges, hiding in the heavily forested slopes and in the upper moor lands. The Aberdares is noted as a rhino sanctuary but keep an eye out for the elusive rare bongo, which is best, spotted in the upper bamboo zone and hypericum scrub.

Day 2 – Samburu After breakfast we proceed further north across the Equator to the edge of the Northern Frontier. Arrival will be in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. We return to the lodge for a sun downer, night wildlife viewing and sumptuous dinner. Overnight at the Samburu Serena Lodge.

Day 3 – Samburu A full day spent exploring the park – unique both in scenery and wildlife. Dinner and overnight at a lodge.
The region is home to the uncommon Grevy’s zebra with huge fury ears, gerenuk antelope standing on hind legs to feed, Somali ostriches with distinct blue legs and the shy Oryx. Elephant and crocodile are guaranteed sightings, excellent bird watching with numerous varieties of weaverbirds and the martial eagle. Leopard sighting is also a special feature here.

Day 4 – Nakuru National Park We head off after breakfast for Lake Nakuru arriving by lunch time after which we proceed for a game drive in the National Park returning in time for sunset and dinner at the lodge.
Nakuru National Park covers 180 sq km and is home to warthogs, waterbuck, buffaloes, reedbucks, and the occasional leopard. White and black rhinos were introduced to the park some years ago and the park has also retained its reputation as an ornithologists’ delight with more than 400 species of bird found here. Overnight at Sarova Lion Hill.

Day 5 - Maasai Mara National Reserve After an early breakfast, we depart for Maasai Mara National Reserve arriving in time for lunch at the lodge. We then proceed on an afternoon game drive returning to the lodge for a relaxing sundowner, and dinner at the lodge.
Wherever you go in the Mara you will see a frequent amount of wildlife such as Maasai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras and hippos also exist in great numbers. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot but are still reasonably common. Overnight at Mara Serena Lodge.

Day 6 - Maasai Mara National Reserve The day is spent game viewing, in the early morning hours and in the evenings as this is when we have the best chances of seeing wildlife. On clear days, the Maasai Mara offers fantastic orange tinted sunsets and you will definitely want to capture this moment while sipping on a sun downer back at the lodge.

Day 7 – Nairobi After breakfast we drive to Nairobi arriving by lunch time.

Day 4 Lake Nakuru - Nairobi: Morning game viewing in L. Nakuru National Park. After lunch drive back to Nairobi where the tour ends. Meal plan - lunch and dinner.

MASAI MARA AND THE LAKES
   
 

A safari to the world famous bird sanctuary of Lake Baringo, Bogoria and Nakuru, then south over the Mau Escarpment to Kenya's greatest concentration of game - the Maasai Mara.

DAY 1 - LAKE BOGORIA:
Depart Nairobi at 9.30 a.m. stopping en-route to view the spectacular Rift Valley. Lunch at Nakuru and build camp at Lake Bogoria in the late afternoon, near the Hot Springs. Don't fall in! Flamingos live here and you can explore on foot. Overnight at the camp site.

DAY 2 - LAKE NAKURU:
A 30-km drive north to Lake Baringo and a boat trip to see the hippos. Then we travel back to Lake Nakuru National Park where we camp for the night. (Lake Nakuru is also famed for its birdlife, including the thousands of flamingoes.) Overnight at the camp site.


DAY 3 - MAASAI MARA:
We head south to Narok, camping at our permanent campsite on the Talek River, which is at the edge of the park. Accommodation is in large stand-up tents with beds and a verandah. Showers are available in the camp and meals are served in the dinning mess.


DAY 4 & 5 - MAASAI MARA:
From our base camp we explore the Mara region, packed with elephant, zebra, rhino, lion and all kinds of game throughout the year with the spectacular wildebeest migration from Serengeti mainly in July and August. Visit a Maasai Mara Manyatta (village). Entry into the Maasai village is at an extra cost.

DAY 6 - NAIROBI:
We break camp and drive to Narok where Maasai souvenirs can be bought, then back to Nairobi by 5.00 p.m.

Mt. Kenya and wildlife

Day 1 Nairobi – Lake Nakuru
Depart Nairobi at 9.30 a.m. stopping at view point to view the spectacular Rift Valley. Lunch in Nakuru and continue to Lake Nakuru for afternoon game viewing at this sanctuary that is famous for its birdlife including thousands of flamingoes, pelican and many plains wildlife. Dinner and overnight at the campsite or in a budget hotel in the lakeside town of Nakuru.

Day 2 Nakuru – Baringo
Leave Nakuru for Lake Bogoria where we are conducted on a tour of the geysers or hot springs. The bird life here is also prolific and for the bird-watcher this is the climax of the tour. After lunch proceed to Lake Baringo, another ornithologists' delight. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 3 Baringo – Mararal
After breakfast leave Lake Baringo and travel north to Maralal Town, one of the most colourful towns in Kenya with the Samburu people resplendent in their red ochre and brightly colored attire. An unforgettable sight is of the antelopes, zebras and giraffes peacefully browsing or grazing, undisturbed by the townspeople going about their daily chores. Lunch, dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 4 Mararal – Samburu
An early morning departure after breakfast for Samburu Wildlife Sanctuary which is reached in the early afternoon. Lunch and evening game drive followed by dinner and overnight.

Day 5 Samburu
A full day is spent tracing the large variety of game that is to be found in this northern wildlife sanctuary including the rare gerenuk (or antelope-giraffe), Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe and the Somali ostrich. All meals and overnight at campsite.

Day 6 Samburu – Mt, Kenya
After breakfast depart the Samburu country for the slopes of Mount Kenya. The afternoon is spent at leisure or trekking on the foothills of this snow-peaked tropical mountain. Dinner and overnight.

Day 7 Nairobi
The morning is spent at leisure and we depart the mountain after lunch for Nairobi which is reached in the early evening.
